Prahlada Maharaja, the son of the extremely atheistic and materially powerful Hiranyakashipu, lived in a society that offered no opportunity to praise the Supreme Lord. Despite being only five years old, Prahlada endured immense suffering at the hands of his father, a demonic figure who persecuted him for his devotion. He was subjected to being trampled by elephants, thrown from a mountain, immersed in boiling oil, and cast into a pit of snakes, yet he remained silent and steadfast throughout his trials.
